HCARA Student Mentorship Program

Connecting Holy Cross Rowing Students and Alumni for Networking and Career Opportunities

The HCARA Rowing Association Mentoring Program (RAMP) program connects Holy Cross rowing alumni with current student-athletes to help the students prepare for and achieve their professional aspirations after Holy Cross.  For alumni, this is a great way to stay connected with Holy Cross rowing, have a meaningful impact on a student, and maybe even help you fill a job opening in your organization.

Become a Mentor.

For Alumni

Here are a few of the opportunities for alumni to get involved, including:

  • HC Network: The HC Network is an online program launched in the summer of 2019 by the Career Development Office that is similar to LinkedIn in its networking functions and capabilities.  It takes the place of HC Career Advisory Network which many of you may recognize. Within this network, we have our own subgroup called the HC Alumni Rowing Affinity Network. As an alumnus/i, you can enter your profile (importable from LinkedIn, for convenience) and request membership to HCARA group. Once in the HC Rowing Affinity Network, any rower can search through our alumni and connect with any one of us. Click Here to access the program.

  • Fall Career Panel:  Each fall -- on Friday evening of the Head of the Snake weekend -- a panel of 3-5 rowing alumni answer student questions in a town hall style Q&A, followed by informal networking and pizza. Typically another 20+ alumni attend this networking event. It is a great evening for alumni to share their insights about careers, internships, interviewing, etc., with the students, as well as to re-connect with other alumni. All alumni are encouraged to attend.

Connect with Mentors.

For Current Students

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
